How fast do you actually get paid?

Before the rider leaves, in cash or by bank transfer. Here is why that particular timing is the whole point.
Short answer: before the rider leaves — in cash, or by bank transfer with the reference on screen while they are still standing in front of you.
The longer answer is about why that particular moment was chosen, because it is the difference between a good doorstep sale and a bad one.
The order of events
- The rider checks the device against your answers.
- If it matches, the number you accepted online is confirmed.
- The device is factory reset in front of you.
- You are paid: the cash is counted out, or the transfer is sent and the reference appears on screen.
- The rider leaves.
Payment comes before step five and after step three, and both of those matter.
Why not later
Anything that ends with "you'll receive it within 24 hours" or "once it's been graded at our facility" moves the risk onto you. You no longer have the device, you do not yet have the money, and the only thing connecting them is a promise made by somebody who has already left.
Grading after collection is also where a price quietly changes with nobody watching. Paying at the door removes both problems at once: what is agreed in front of you is what happens in front of you.
Cash or bank transfer
Both settle the sale before the rider leaves. Cash is in your hand there and then. A bank transfer to your IBAN is traceable and leaves both sides with a record — you get a reference you can point at, and nobody has to carry cash to a stranger's door. Pick whichever suits you.
What you should do
Count the cash, or note the transfer reference, before the rider goes. Not because we expect anything to go wrong — because "paid at the door" only means anything if somebody checks at the door. Hold any buyer to that, including us.
If something is wrong
Say so while they are still there. The contact page has a real number for afterwards, but the easiest problem to fix is the one raised before anyone has left the building.

Questions people ask
- When do I get paid for my old phone?
- Before the rider leaves your door — in cash, or by bank transfer to your IBAN with the payment reference shown on screen while they are still there.
- What if the transfer does not arrive?
- Keep the reference the rider shows you and contact us with it. That reference is exactly why the transfer is made while they are still with you rather than afterwards.
- Do you pay in cash?
- Yes, cash at pickup is one of the two options. The other is a bank transfer to your IBAN, which leaves both sides with a record.
