Can you cancel a pickup?

Yes, and it costs nothing — including when the rider is already standing in front of you.

The short answer is yes, free, at every stage. The longer answer is what each stage actually involves.

Before you book

Seeing a price commits you to nothing. The whole flow — pick the device, answer the condition questions, see the number — exists to be looked at. Close the tab and nothing has happened.

After you book, before the slot

Cancel through the number on your booking or the contact page. It costs nothing. If it is a timing problem rather than a change of heart, the slot can simply be moved instead.

At the door, before you agree

This is the one worth being clear about, because it is where people feel awkward. If the rider is standing in front of you and you decide you would rather keep the device — for any reason, or none — you keep it. The pickup has cost you nothing and the visit is not a debt.

That includes the case where the check turns up something you did not know about and the number changes: you are shown what changed, and declining is one of the two answers. How that is meant to work.

After you agree

Once you accept, the device is factory reset in front of you and paid for before the rider leaves. That reset is the point of no return, and it is deliberately the last thing that happens rather than the first — nothing of yours is erased until the sale is agreed.

The one thing cancelling can cost you

Not money. Time, and a little value: prices follow the market, and the market for a used phone moves downwards as it ages. A quote is the quote for today, and coming back in three months usually means a smaller number — which is the case for selling when you stop using a device rather than when you finally get around to it.

Questions people ask

Does cancelling a pickup cost anything?
No. The pickup is free and cancelling is free, including when the rider is already at your door.
What happens to my device if I decline at the door?
It stays with you, exactly as it was. The reset only happens once you have agreed, as part of the handover.
Will the same price be there if I come back later?
Not necessarily. Prices follow the market, which moves — usually downwards as a phone ages. The quote you see is the quote for today.
