Which phone do I actually have?

The most common reason a quote comes out wrong is that the phone in the quote is not the phone in your hand.
Most quotes that go wrong go wrong here, before any condition question is asked: the phone selected is not quite the phone being sold. It takes thirty seconds to be sure.
The fastest answer
Android: Settings → About phone. You get the model name, the model number and, a little further down, the storage.
iPhone: Settings → General → About. Model Name and Capacity are both on that screen.
Use what the phone says, not what you remember buying. Phones are given as gifts, swapped within families and bought in a hurry, and people are wrong about their own more often than you would think.
Watch for the suffix
A Pro, a Plus, a Max, an Ultra, an FE, an R, an a-series — these are not decorations, they are different phones with different prices. The base model and the Pro of the same year can be a long way apart. So can two phones one number apart in the same series.
Then the storage
It is on the same screen. Note that the reported figure is always a little under the advertised one — a 128 GB phone shows about 119 GB usable — so match it to the nearest advertised size. Storage is priced separately, which is why the flow asks for it before showing a number.
If the name is not there
Some phones show only a model number: SM-S911B, A2882, CPH2451. That number identifies exactly one phone and market — search it, or look at the small print on the back of the phone and on the original box. The bill usually names the model in full too.
Wi-Fi or cellular, GPS or LTE
On a tablet or a watch this is part of the model, not a detail. A cellular iPad and a Wi-Fi iPad of the same generation are separate entries at separate prices, and so are a GPS watch and a GPS + Cellular one. A SIM tray, or an eSIM entry in Settings, tells you which you have.
Then get the price
With the model and variant right, the quote takes about a minute and the number you see is the number the rider is working from.

Questions people ask
- How do I find my exact phone model?
- On Android: Settings → About phone. On an iPhone: Settings → General → About, which gives the model name and capacity. Both are faster and more reliable than going by memory.
- What if it only shows a model number?
- Search that number — SM-S911B, A2882, and the like — and it maps to one specific phone and market. It is also printed in small type on the back of many phones and on the box.
- Why does the exact variant matter so much?
- Because every variant is priced separately. The Pro and the base model of the same year are different phones, and so are the 128 GB and 256 GB versions of either.
